Narrative, or story telling, is an essential element in my paintings.  I begin a painting with scribbles.  I add color rivers through the scribbles.  Then I look at the painting until a figure emerges.  One thing leads to another. One figure will begin to "talk" to another and eventually a theme emerges.  From there, I search my brain and all the information from my life for the few specific things that belong in the painting.
