Powertrain Systems Research Lab

The need for higher fuel efficiency and lower emissions continues to drive automotive propulsion systems. At the same time, customers continue to demand a high level of vehicle performance and pleaseability.

To help meet increasingly stringent environmental and energy requirements while maintaining the vehicle performance that customers expect, Powertrain Systems Research is working on a number of advanced powertrain technologies. These include advanced direct-injection gasoline and diesel engines, continuously variable transmissions, control-augmented engines and transmissions, and mechatronic systems.

The goal for the Lab is to enable GM to be the global leader in high-value, energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, high-performance automotive powerplants and drivetrains.
