Job Title: Thermoscience Engineer

Job Description: General Motors Research and Development Center has an open position for a highly motivated and creative analysis engineer interested in conducting cutting-edge research on internal combustion engine systems and other thermofluid devices. The job involves the development and application of advanced thermofluid analysis tools, including computational fluid dynamics, for the development of new engine technologies. Both recent graduates and experienced engineers are invited to apply.

Requirements: Ph.D. in Mechanical, Chemical or Aerospace Engineering majoring in the thermoscience disciplines; thorough knowledge of the fundamental processes relevant to engine combustion and performance, e.g., fluid mechanics, turbulence, heat transfer, turbulent combustion, multiphase flows, etc.; detailed knowledge on the application of computational fluid dynamics and related tools to research and develop thermofluid devices. Knowledge of internal combustion engines and after-treatment systems is advantageous.

Job Title: Dynamics and Control Engineers

Job Description: General Motors Research and Development Center has several open positions for highly motivated, innovative and creative dynamics and control engineers interested in conducting cutting-edge research in automotive propulsion system dynamics and control. The job involves the innovation and development of advanced propulsion (engine, transmission, and unconventional) concepts that offer improvements in vehicle fuel economy, performance and drivability. Both recent graduates and experienced professionals are invited to apply.

Requirements: Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with concentration in dynamics and control, experience with control system synthesis and implementation, and good oral and written communication skills are required. Knowledge of robust control methods and control system simulation and development tools, microprocessor-based control software and hardware development, mechanisms synthesis, mechatronics, and electromagnetics is preferred.

Requirements: M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with experience in engines and combustion-related research along with good oral and written communication skills are required.
