REHEARSALS RIGHT ON SCHEDULE--THANKS TO ALL
Thanks to the continued cooperation of parents and a dedicated, amazing cast, we're right on schedule. We've been able to do the rough blocking of one or two songs per rehearsal. Please continue to schedule your students' appointments and other business for those times they aren't needed in rehearsal. It really helps!
LES MIS GOES TO DIGNITY
The cast of Les Miserables has been invited to perform for the residents of Portland's homeless camp, Dignity Village. Our friend Joan Yasui Emmerson, who has spent many hours helping at the camp, assures us that the camp's residents are in need of our entertainment and the positive, hopeful message of Les Mis. We will be taking a school bus, and we will be asking families to provide baked goods and some other food items to take with us. The tentative date for our trip is tentatively set for Saturday, September 28. More details in the next issue of The Les Miserables News. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
PROPS NEEDED
In the next issue of the News, I will publish a list of props and other items needed for the musical. Starting looking now for items to furnish the tavern, including a meat grinder (mounted on a block or table), pewter drinking cups and steins, leather bags, etc.
WANT TO SPONSOR A PROP RIFLE?
We are in need of 5-8 black powder rifles/muskets for the show. Greg Weast of Columbia River Music has leant us his. If you would like to sponsor the cost of a prop rifle or black powder firing rifle, let me know. Your generosity will be noted in the program and you may opt to keep the rifle after the show as a souvenir! Thanks to Ed Gunderson for leading the way on this one.
MORE SPONSORSHIPS AND DONATIONS
Donations continue to be made...some of the most recent include the Lion's Leo's Club and The Starseed Foundation ($500). Anyone donating at that level becomes an "Executive Producer."
