People

At GM Research, we employ an extraordinary class of researcher. Being smart is just a starting point – add to that vision, creativity, and perseverance. Attire around the R&D Center may be casual, but our researchers are anything but in their pursuit of answers to key research questions. They relish teamwork, frequently collaborating with other groups within Research, with staff at GM platforms and other business units, and with leaders at government and private labs and universities around the world.

GM is a global company and our Research staff of 650 reflects that emphasis. The R&D Center often seems like a miniature United Nations, because we draw on the world for talent. Diversity in background, education, and experience mean our researchers are in tune with the wants and needs of GM's global customers.

More than 50 percent of our staff are professional researchers, and more than 85 percent of those have PhDs. Not surprisingly, the Big 10 universities are well-represented among our staff, but so are the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of California at Berkeley, and the universities of England. Fields of study also run the gamut, from Electrical Engineering to Chemistry to Engineering Mechanics.

Would you fit in? Look through the profiles and get to know some of our researchers better. See if you have what it takes to be join one of the most innovative and diverse research teams you'll find anywhere.
