If it "Ain't" Working

Consider / Wait

This is the day of the "fast lane", Everything needs to be fast and if possible instant. Instant coffee, instant tea, you know that’s the stuff you make with instant water. There is no time to stop, to think, to consider, to seek. As one author put it, Americans are just too busy to seek the Lord.

God has much to say about such things as Seeking,  waiting, considering and about being still. He talks about Meditation and think on these things. That takes desire and time.

CONSIDER=Gaze, observe fully, until you comprehend, perceive, understand.

In Psalm 8 we read "When I consider Thy heavens..." When the Psalmist lifts his eyes heavenward and gazes until he understands the power, wisdom and majesty of the Creator, he sees more clearly God’s care and his own frailty and trust in this great God and Father.

"...consider how great things He has done for you..." (I Samuel 12:24) Look at them, until you perceive, understand, comprehend the matter.

WAIT
You see another strand of truth about God and you weave it into a tassle or cord, each strand makes the cord stronger. It is also used of a measuring cord.

(Don’t just pass this by, think on it.) You see a facet of the character of God as you read His word, or look at His creation, you wait there, you begin to see, you look, you "camp" there for a while. It does not mean just to sit down and say "Well, Lord, I’m waiting, how long Lord do I have to sit here waiting." No, you get a glimmer of a perfection of God and you begin to pray to see it with clearer eye until you are gripped by it. You are strengthened, plus you begin to measure the situation around you with that measuring cord. The 12 spies in Numbers 13,14 make a good illustration of both these words. All went in to spy out the land, 10 of them seemed to see something much different from the two with the "minority report". The ten were filled with fear, the 2 said "We are well able to overcome them." They had before spent time "Waiting on the Lord" and "Considering.

"Psalm 25  Shew me Thy ways, O Lord; teach me Thy paths. Lead me in Thy truth, and teach me: for Thou art the God of my salvation; on Thee do I WAIT ALL THE DAY.
Psalm 27  Teach me Thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path...I had fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. WAIT ON THE LORD: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thy heart: WAIT I say on the Lord.
Isaiah 40  He gives power to the faint: and to them that have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: but they that WAIT upon the Lord shall renew their strength...

Take the time to apply the above definitions to the above passages.
