Background Info
The watershed relay is a multi-sport
event that follows the flow of the White Salmon River from its source
(Mt Adams) to its mouth. It's a very loosely organized event with no
formal timing, prizes, or organization - really just a group of folks
getting together to tackle a challenging goal in a beautiful
setting. Anyone is welcome to join in. It can be done in
a few different ways. Here are some ideas - though anything
goes, so be creative:
- Team - each member takes on a
segment. In the past, whole teams have climbed the mountain
and skied down and then each member takes on a different segment
for the rest.
- Pair - this is a great way to do
it. Typically, both members climb and ski, then segments are
alternated (therefore someone's always available to drive the
shuttle car). Both members can also finish together by
canoeing across the Columbia.
- Solo - this isn't as bad as it
sounds. It's all downhill after all! Its pretty easy
to stash gear along the way for this
