Who We Are

There are just two of us. When you call, you're always speaking to one of the partners.

Kathy is the former Editor-in-Chief of Oregon Business magazine, and editorial director of Oregon Business Media, the largest custom publisher in the Pacific Northwest. Kathy joined the magazine in 1992, rebuilding both its content and its readership, and played an active role in creating the custom publishing division.

Kathy has been involved in business, government and politics in Oregon for 20 years. She served as press secretary to the State Senate Democratic Caucus, and as communications director for the state Labor Commissioner and the state Economic Development Department, as well as press secretary to the Mayor of Portland.

Her community involvement includes:

  • Citizens for Responsible Growth, board member
  • Rural Development Initiatives, former board member
  • Giving in Oregon Council of the Oregon Community Foundation, former board member
  • Neighborhood Partnership Fund, former board member
  • STARS Foundation, a teen pregnancy prevention program; founding board member
  • Oregon Entrepreneurs Forum, past 1999 board member, co-chair of the Entrepreneur of the Year Award dinner.

Stu has 28 years of experience in print and online journalism. He was a founding editor at TRIP.com, and before that, the first news team leader for What On Earth, a daily interactive multimedia news journal for children produced by Ingenius, a joint venture of TCI and Reuters.

His experience with print media included stints as managing editor at Oregon Business magazine, and as a reporter and newsroom manager with newspapers in California, Montana, Oregon and Alaska. His award-winning journalism career included a first place Best Writing award from the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association, and a first place Excellence in Educational Journalism award for Electronic Media, EdPress Awards. The Society of Professional Journalists gave him a first place Humor Writing award for the Pacific Northwest. His community involvements include:

Kathy and Stu are members of the Friends of the Columbia Gorge and The Nature Conservancy. Stu is a member of the Columbia Gorge Windsurfing Association, and Kathy is a member of Soroptimists.
