Vacations

Staci and I have been on a few vacations since we've met both with each other only and with the kids as well.  Although they have all been great in their own way here are a few of the more memorable ones.  On a side note, after making the list below it just occurred to me that most of our favorite trips involved either making a baby or Staci being pregnant.  Go figure.

Our honeymoon in Maui

Sorry, no pictures of that one.  It was our first trip to Maui and we had a great time.  We stayed in the Westin Maui which at the time was a pretty big splurge for us.  We were so worried about spending all of the money we got for our wedding that we barely did anything that cost money.  Oh well, it was out honeymoon, we had plenty of other stuff to do.

Our first (and second) sailing trip to the British Virgin Islands

We first went to the BVIs in November of 2000 but immediately decided to return many times in the future.  We had a ton of fun and we conceived Conner on this trip.  Shortly after Conner was born we went down again with him and with our good friends Angie and Trace.  Although still a memorable trip it was a little stressful being fairly new parents and having an infant on a boat in the heat of the tropics.  I can't say I regret taking that trip but I don't think I would take a five month old on a sailing trip again.  I have been down two more times since then, once with Staci and once with a friend of mine, however, I can't wait until our kids get a little older so that we can enjoy the islands as a family.  The BVIs is truly an amazing place and I don't think I could ever grow tired of spending time down there.  My dream is to someday spend several months sailing the BVIs as well as the rest of the Caribbean with my family.

Our 2004 Trip to New York

We finally made it to New York in November of 2004.  I wasn't sure what to expect and didn't even really know what to think about it when I was there.  In hindsight it was a pretty fun and exciting place as long as you don't mind a small crowd.  In any case we made Taylor in New York so it will always be a special place to us.

(If you want to see pictures of New York City go to Google and do a search!)

Our 2005 Maui Vacation

This was a really fun trip.  We went to Maui with Conner and Staci was pregnant with Taylor.  I don't actually remember the specifics of the trip but I do remember Conner had a blast and in was one of those great family trips.

(One of the few times you will see Conner with food in his mouth)

(Our night out at the luau - I think one of the hula girls just lost her coconuts)

(Conner reunited with Snuggles after the maid service accidentally took him away with the bed sheets)

Our 2006 Maui Trip

We went to Maui in 2006 with both kids and both sets of parents and stayed in The Whaler which is an ocean-front condo.  It was nice having three generations on vacation together (not to mention having the help with the kids).  We had a great snorkel trip and some enjoyable dinners out.

2007 in San Diego

We went to San Diego with our good friends and stayed at Paradise Point Resort.  I was a little skeptical about going to San Diego but we ended up having a nice time.  Aside from Sea World, Lego Land and the San Diego Zoo we had a couple of memorable nights out sans-kids and just had a lot of fun in general.

(What's a trip to San Diego without seeing SeaWorld?)

(We waited and waited but the line never seemed to move...)

(A great dinner in La Jolla with great friends)

2007 Maui Trip

We wanted to get one last family trip in before the new baby came so we used some frequent flier miles to get ourselves to Maui - again.  This time we stayed in Wailea at the Fairmon Kea Lani resort which was really nice because every unit there is a suite with a separate bedroom.  This was perfect for Taylor's naps and the kids sleeping at night.  It was also nice to see a different part of Maui since we have always stayed in Kaanapalli on our previous trips.  I took Conner on a nice snorkel trip and Staci and I had a great meal at Duo at the Four Seasons next door to our resort.  I also got out to play one round of golf at the Wailea Emerald course.  I have to say though that with two kids it is tough to get time to do much on your own - I can't imagine what it is going to be like with another one.
