Dear Parents
and Students:
Les Miserables Home
Music Home
First of all,
thank you for supporting the Les Miserables cast this week and being
flexible about the schedule. The cast has done an absolutely wonderful job and
I am very encouraged by what I have heard and seen so far. This is going to be
a very special and memorable production.
A couple of
notes, reminders, and events to be aware of:
- Make sure
you bookmark our website and check it often, as it is where I will post
date changes and all information. If you or your students do not have
internet access, I will have paper copies as well. The address is:
http://w3.gorge.net/mdstg/LesMiz.htm
- As you may
know, there has been some discussion of starting HR Schools a week later (on
9/9) than planned. Should the start of school be delayed, we will still
have rehearsals on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (September 3,4,5) from
3:15-5:15.
The board will make a decision about the start of school on 8/28. Watch the
website for more information.
- After
school starts, we will have a parent meeting for anyone interested in
helping with various aspects of the musical—set, costumes, publicity, etc.
- Finally,
the cast of the show has been invited to sing on Sunday, September 8 at HR
Middle School, as the opening for a lecture/discussion entitled “From
Ground Zero to Common Ground.” This event is part of a week-long series of
events inspired by the anniversary of September 11. The cast will meet at
2:30, sing at 3:00, and be free to go. We will sing the finale of the show
and a very simple song I have written for the occasion. The HRV Chamber
Singers will be joining us (provided school has started on time!).
Thank you again. The kids are
doing great. I look forward to the rest of the rehearsal process and a
wonderful year.
