 Calvin Ave

CalvinCalvin is our 1.7 year old Norwegian Forest cat. He is a very sweet kitty who purrs constantly and doesn't mind being held upside down in the air above your head. He is a good lap kitty when he wants to be. He doesn't stay for long since he tends to get hot with his thick coat. Several times a night he insists on crawling into my lap while I try to type on the computer. He currently weighs 12.7 pounds and is expected to reach 17-18 pounds by the time he is full grown (usually about 5 years with this breed).
Calvin is quite intelligent. His favorite game is playing "fetch" with one of his favorite toys. He runs after it, Calvingrabs it, trotts back and drops it at your feet so you can throw it again. He has learned how to open doors (that aren't completely latched), cupboards (have to keep some closed with rubber bands), sliding closet and shower doors.
Calvin was the first cat I decided to show. With help from his breeder
Brenda Greengard Calvin was entered in the TICA show in Springfield, Oregon May 2, 3, 1998. It was his first cat show and he was not too thrilled with the presence of the other cats. Despite his hissing and growling at the other cats he was finaled and won the 5th best Alter award and now has enough points to be a "Champion Alter"
His second show was June 6, 7th, 1998 at Portland, Oregon. He did not want to be at Calvinthe cat show and made his opinion known by laying his ears flat and growling and hissing at every available opportunity. He did final in one ring taking 10th best All Breed Alter in Pattie Andrews ring. After seeing how he reacted to the show I thought it best to not have him judged at the next show. I entered him as exhibition only, and entered Hobbes. This allowed me to see if Calvin's attitude was improving or getting worse without overly stressing him or putting any of the judges at risk.Calvin After this last show (#3) I decided that show life was not for Calvin. He is now "retired" as a Champion Alter. He spends most of his days sleeping on the bed or looking out the window.
