Watershed Committee Support
UCD supports the efforts of several watershed committees in the Conservation District. These groups serve as local voices, helping UCD and others to identify projects, prioritize projects, assist in planning efforts, and serve as education forums for conservation efforts. White Salmon Watershed Management Committee (WSWMC) Wind River Watershed Council (WRWC) UCD has been involved in watershed planning via the Watershed Resource Inventory
Area (WRIA) planning efforts in WRIA 29. This WRIA area is now split into WRIA 29A ( Other stakeholder groups have formed on an as needed basis. Occasionally, UCD facilitates meetings of the Technical Advisory Committee, which is made up of experts in the fields of fisheries, forestry, farming, education, etc. We also facilitate five Coordinated Resource Management Groups, encouraging communication between landowners and grazing leasees, as well as among agricultural irrigators.
