Water Quality Monitoring
An important part of UCD's work involves water quality monitoring. Monitoring of water chemistry and temperature gives a baseline of information, that can be valuable in assessing the value of restoration projects. UCD has been monitoring water quality since the early 1990s. Efforts have not been continuous, since funding is provided by grants and project contracts. However, a good baseline of information is being developed for the White Salmon and Wind River watersheds. UCD shares information with other agencies and interested parties, such as the US Forest Service, US Geological Survey, and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Currently, our water quality monitoring efforts are funded via a contract with the Bonneville Power Administration.
