This is the very last Velocette made. It is one of 2 in the picture in the February 3, 1971 Birmingham Evening Mail. You can tell because it has the reflectors and lack of tax disk for USA specifications. Below are documents for the order made October 20, 1970, and the invoice dated February 7, 1971 given by the Liquidator of the company. Also are various memo's and a picture of the bikes while being crated for shipment. The bikes were original purchased by O. H. Hood of California and his business partner. They ordered these last 2 bikes specifically as the last 2 bikes to be made by the company. The Serial number of this bike is 9074, and I was told 9073 ended up in a Museum on the east coast. This little bike is kind of amazing. It it like the perfect motorcycle around town. Perhaps thats why most were sold as Policy Patrol Vehicles. A whole class of officer, the "Noddy" was born, reportedly because the officers were allowed to Nod their head instead of salute their superiors so they could keep their hands on the controls. This one is too special ride much as I bought it with 153 actual miles on it, and it now has about 700. In mid 2009 I found and restored another one which will be my general ride to coffee and mail pickup. Pictures will be elsewhere on the site The LE has a 192cc watercooled engine with a shaft drive.

Every now and then I take the bike out riding. This picture was taken at an Oregon Vintage Motorcycle Club "Tiddlers" tour. I usually take the 51, but like to get this one out now and then.
