In the War Studies series, I am working directly with images presented by the major news media to examine the power of propaganda. How do news images shape our collective memory? Our identification of 'the self' versus 'the other'?

My paintings feature female protagonists, along with a juxtaposition of militaristic and floral elements, to question the role of gender in the political sphere. For the most part, the paintings are composed of three panels, a format that suggests their reading as triptychs or studies for billboards.
