We share a common story. Unfortunately, this story
is constructed by a multi-billion dollar industry
dedicated to managing our perceptions. Our understanding
of the application and consequences of power, war,
and empire are formed by the constant repetition of
selective images.
The Pentagon controls the camera as well as the action.
As an artist, I find it deeply disturbing, both emotionally
and philosophically, that so much of the narrative
of the present is dominated by images that I had no
hand in creating. My response is to extract these
images from my corner of the collective consciousness,
reformat and repackage them, and then reembed them
with a meaning and message that I can live with.
