here are many great recreational opportunities at Taylor Lake. It is a popular spot for fisherman around this area. The lake contains many kinds of fish, including sturgeon and catfish.
People enjoy watching the many types of birds to be found
on and around the lake, as well as exploring the interesting shoreline of the Columbia
which is just a stone's throw away.
By September of 2000, the walking trail at Taylor Lake will
be connected to the riverfront trail at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center via an
underpass beneath the railroad tracks. When the entire Riverfront Trail project is
completed you will be able to walk all the way from The Dalles Dam, past Taylor Lake, to
the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center, a distance of approximately 8 miles.
