Usually, I work under a simple per-hour agreement or a simple monthy fee agreement, depending on employer preference. All work hours are arranged by mutual convenience. Employer is under no long-term obligation. My default preference is to carry a project through to conclusion, or to a convenient hand-off point.

Per-hour employers receive reports showing date, hours range, hours worked billed by tenth-hour, tasks performed.

Payment is due within 30 days of the end of the month in which hours are worked. In some cases I may require a deposit prior to beginning work. A finance charge of 1.5% per month applies to past due balances, is calculated at the end of each month on the past-due balance as of that date, and is added to balance due as of that date. Any payments received apply first to outstanding finance charges, and then to oldest invoice.
