Artist Statement
My work is about vessels: vases,
boats, capillaries, and botanical. I am drawn into the world of containers
and space.
My art work is an overflow of my enthusiasm for and interest in creating,
defining and preserving spaces.
Just a few of the concepts that I
explore in my work are:
- The way a mustard seed
is a vessel that can carry the DNA of the plant through thousands of
years.
- The way giant vessels of metal
ply the oceans and air day and night carrying cargo.
- The fact that our bodies
are vessels for our minds and spirits.
I am compelled to reduce my materials to very small pieces and reassemble
them into large shapes that hint at mass but remain a sort of sketch.
I strive to use materials in their most basic and natural forms.
Thanks for the interest in my work.
