Kamma Clark born in Denmark

KAMMA CLARK, a resident of the Lyle area for 81 years. She was born to Mr. and Mrs. Corfex Sorensen in Odder, Denmark on Feb. 22, 1882.

The family settled in North Carolina for 5 years before coming west on the insistence of an older daughter that had come west to marry.

Her father filed a homestead on Fisher Hill and went into raising cattle. Kamma had 9 brothers and sisters, 2 of who stayed in the old country. Her schooling was acquired in small one-room schools in the Lyle area and then she went to Portland where she received her nurses training at St. Vincent's Hospital.

Kamma was married to Byrd Clark on June 20, 1915. She was an honorary member Of the Lyle Women's Club, member of the Columbia Grange and the Lyle Methodist Church.
