Filer Sackett See and Mary Elizabeth Northrop See

This is my humble first attempt at Genealogy, beginning with the following introduction:
While playing in the yard on a swing as a youngster in Colby, Kansas, grandma would observe a lone rider on a horse; later the entire Jesse James Gang would arrive on horseback. They came into the house; Mary See would have a meal prepared. They ate in complete silence. Thereafter they rose and would ride off on their horses.

Afterward a coin was found under each dish!

Just to add some color; I have added some color!

The next thing I have to present is going to be about as exciting as reading
I Chronicles 1:1 through I Chronicles 9:44.

No, not even!

Still, if you are determined to know it all, let's move on to the next page:

Joseph Bishop See Family

Joseph Bishop See (son of Rebecca and David See): Born February 19, 1790; Died March 19, 1879.

Eliza Sackett

(daughter of Filer Jabez Sackett who was born April 10, 1766, in Connecticut and Deborah Waterman born in New Hampshire circa 1770) was born in Ellery Chautaugua, New York, on December 24, 1805.

Eliza Sackett and Joseph Bishop See were married on November 24, 1824.

Joseph and Eliza had four boys, all born in Chautauq County, New York:

George Fike See: Born May 1, 1828; died April 3, 1889.

George married December 23, 1852 (Hope Mom liked her birthday present!)

Filer Sackett See:

Born February 16, 1836; died January 28, 1927 or 1928 from a perforated appendix (this predated research on antibiotics).

Filer married

Mary Elizabeth Northrop

See October 29, 1863.

The Reverend Albert Nelson See.

Albert Nelson See: Born June 28, 1840; married

Cynthia A. Northrop

See November 18, 1863. Reverend Albert Nelson See died on December 16, 1924.

Now, this is kind of interesting: Filer and Nelson were four years apart in age, and apparently they formed a partnership. The document that follows is on their letterhead; it contains a handwritten note to Filer answering the type written note from his brother, the Reverend Albert Nelson See.

Now I am not sure just how some of these people figure in for others seeking out information about their origins, but it seems this was a family business and if you use your zoom tools you will see a lot of nepotism going on here; I believe my grandmother actually owned stock in this company--at $1.00 per share, it was rather affordable, hm?

The above is the family of Filer and Mary See.

* * *
Filer Sackett See was born February 13, 1836, the son of Joseph Bishop See and Eliza Sackett.
Filer married Mary Elizabeth Northrop(e) on October 24, 1863. She was born March 29, 1845, in Warren County, Pennsylvania, and she died July 18, 1915, at Gem, Kansas.
His appendix perforated. As antibiotics had not yet been discovered, Filer succumbed on January 28, 1927/1928.
Mary Elizbeth Northrop, born March 29, 1845 (Pennsylvania or Delaware);
died on July 18, 1915.

Thirteen children resulted from this marriage, nine of whom grew to be adults:

Luella Alice See: Firstborn (Dover, Delaware) January 1, 1865.
(Maybe she was the first baby born that year; lived only to age of four years). Died 1869.
Fred DeWight: Born July 20, 1866, also in Delaware.
Married

Cassy Munson in 1894;

Myron Munson married Annie Northrop in 1868.)
Fred died in January 1895.
Anna Bell: Born January 9, 1869 (Pennsylvania), married

Jake Kiefer

December 15, 1893.
Anna Bell and Jake Kiefer had at least two daughters, one named

Nettie Woerpel

(nee: Kiefer) and the other

Nellie Laurent

(Nee: Kiefer), of Colby, Kansas.
Anna Bell See died in 1941.
Viola Sackett only lived four years; born September 15, 1871 (close to Erie, Pennsylviania). Died in 1875.
Eva Adella: Born July 8, 1873 (Pennsylvania or Delaware).

Marshall Thompson

and Eva married December 189(?).
Eva died in 1900.
Alice Nora: Born September 16, 1875 (Republic, Kansas); married September 5, 1897,

Joseph C. Stewart.

Alice died September 29, 1953(Denver, Colorado).

Florence Goodger.

Albert Bishop: Born (mo?) 19, 1879 (Munchlon(?), Kansas); died in childhood November 15, 1884.
Etta May: Born June 19, 1884 (Cumberland County, Thomas, Kansas); married

Bill Kiefer

October 29, 1903. I have a picture of Etta May and Bill (to be posted at a later date).
Effie May: Born June 19, 1884 (Thomas, Kansas); died ae year of age.
Hattie Grace: Born June 22, 1882 (Thomas, Kansas); married

Lloyd Fouts

February 1 6, 1905.
Martha: Born September 23, 1885 (Thomas, Kansas); married

William Castor

October 22, 1905;
Five children born to Bill Castor and Martha See Castor:
Waneeta, Bill, Clarence, Hazel Beatrice, and Zetta M (Baby Peggy).
That is not a typo on Zetta's middle (?) name; all she was given was an initial without a period. Hazel was three years her senior and called her "Peggy" because she said the M stood for Margaret (she named her own daughter "Margaret," and she also had a son named Myron).
The name Peggy stuck; I know, cause it was my mother.
She divorced Bill and married

Clyde Conner

on September 22, 1929.
Martha died February 26, 1961, in Gardenia, California.

Martha was my grandmother.

DeEarl, the baby of the family: Born October 16, 1887, in Thomas, Kansas.
On May 2, (?year) he married

Susan Pettibone.

I do not have a record of DeEarl's death.

The above is the adult Filer See family with their spouses.
